Surrounded by family, associates and representatives from the Swartz Creek Area Chamber of Commerce and West Flint Business Association, Jodi Blackburn wields the ceremonial scissors to snip the ribbon at The FURlough dog daycare and pet resort Tuesday. The chamber and association teamed up to sponsor the ribbon-cutting to officially welcome the new business to town. Blackburn and her husband, David (standing to Jodi’s left), own the business, located at 3095 S. Dye Road in Flint Township. The FURlough offers both day and over-night care for all kinds of household pets, and soon will also provide grooming services. There’s even a small boutique with unique gift items for pets and pet-lovers. Others who joined in on the ceremony include, back row from left, SCACC Treasurer Shelly Horkey, SCACC member Carolyn McQuigg, WFBA member Kim Wilkins, The FURlough General Manager Cory Graham, WFBA President Jessica Lanave, Kristy Kranz; and, front row from left, SCACC Vice President Nathan Shue, SCACC Secretary Linda Russell, SCACC members Kali Varner and Jim Miller, Flint Township Economic Development Director Tracey Tucker, SCACC President John Knickerbocker and Graham’s father-in-law, Richard.
